Are these tools really free?
Yes. Every tool on this page is completely free to use, as often as you like. We make PASS, the care management platform, and these tools are our way of being useful to the whole care sector – whether you use PASS or not.
Do I need to sign up or give my email address?
No. There’s no sign-up, no login and no email capture on any of the tools. Your answers stay on the page you’re using – nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Are the risk calculators official medical assessments?
No. The MUST and Waterlow calculators are guides to support your care decisions. The MUST calculator is based on BAPEN’s ‘Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool’ and the Waterlow calculator follows the standard Waterlow scoring. Both should be used alongside professional judgement and your organisation’s policy.
Can I use these tools for training or teaching?
Yes, and many people do. You’re welcome to use any of these tools in training sessions, courses or team meetings, and to link to this page from your own materials.
