Press Release: June 2017
everyLIFE Technologies, leading creator of intelligent care platforms, today announces the availability of openPASS: a smartphone application that enables families to stay better connected with their relatives receiving homecare or in a care home. The app can help people feel more in control, alleviate feelings of guilt or helplessness and, ultimately, improve the quality of care delivered to their relatives.
The openPASS app, available on iOS and Android*, gives verified customers, family members and friends inclusive access to real-time care plans and records in PASS, the industry standard digital care planning, monitoring and inclusion (CPM&I) platform in the UK. This enables all users to instantly share and receive information, driving new efficiencies in care management, allowing carers to spend less time on paperwork and more time caring for their clients. This lets service users, families and friends feel more in control over care provision.
As well as increasing the quality of care standards, openPASS helps care providers meet NICE guidance, Care Quality Commission (CQC), Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) and Care Inspectorate (CI) standards by removing paperwork and enabling care professionals to keep more accurate, up-to-date digital records. Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector of Adult Social Care at the Care Quality Commission, has encouraged care providers to embrace innovative digital technologies that enhance care delivery, achieve effective care outcomes, and improve the independence of the people they support.
Victoria Inskip, carer with Melody Care, said: “Using openPASS has made my life a lot easier by saving me valuable time in between jobs, which I would have spent filling out paperwork, writing care notes, and making multiple phone calls to my clients’ family members. By having all of this information in one place, I am able to spend more time doing what I love – caring for my clients.”
Dr Dawn Harper, General Practitioner (GP), added: “As a practising GP, I know from my patients that trusting someone else to take care of a loved one can be a huge source of worry. This concern can be made worse when family members are based in different locations and not near their loved one receiving care. The pressure of this situation is stressful for family members and has a detrimental effect on the person receiving care, worrying that they are becoming a burden on their family and losing their independence. The openPASS app connects families and gives them instant access anytime, anywhere, to the care notes for their relative so that everyone is kept up to date. It also reduces the amount of paperwork that the carers have to complete, allowing them to spend more time with their clients doing what they love to do, it truly benefits everyone.”
Paul Barry, CEO, everyLIFE Technologies said: “Care is evolving and the industry needs a dedicated mobile platform to improve care quality, to establish essential connections between stakeholders, and to modernise inefficient processes. With openPASS, everyLIFE Technologies is answering market demand for a real-time view of care provision and preparing the UK for a fourth age of care with a comprehensive and intelligent care management platform.”
openPASS is a component of PASS, which is the only care management system that is NICE compliant, repeatedly referenced in CQC and Care Inspectorate reports, and recommended by NHS England. Furthermore, the platform is security tested by leading cyber security consultants.
*Care providers may charge a small monthly fee for use of openPASS.
