building trust in care

PASSsystem – Building Trust In Care Since 2014

2 minute read

In the last month, we celebrated the PASSsystem fifth birthday. Over this time, we have recorded over 400 million care tasks, with over 1000 home care and residential care businesses. We are privileged that we now support in excess of 75,000 care professionals in their work every day.

We have learned a lot over five years.

Undoubtedly the biggest lesson we’ve learnt is that transformation and improvement in care isn’t about technology – it’s about PEOPLE. Of course, having instant access to information in a digital format means we can react quickly, however, this unleashes the potential of your teams to deliver the care that is needed. PASS creates an environment where carers, their managers, business owners and others across the circle of care have an informed view to sustain and evidence high quality care.

Our purpose is building trust in care. We have learnt that trust is earned through delivering care that meets the specific needs of those being cared for AND reacting to any changes. Moving from paper to digital allows you to adapt care plans and record changes immediately. This ability to adapt care while evidencing all changes, builds trust across families, care professionals, commissioners and regulators.

But we couldn’t have achieved anything without our amazing customers; enthusiastic, hard-working and engaged pioneers who have, in effect, co-designed PASS every step of the way. Five years of invaluable feedback from our customers and the people receiving care have been every bit as valued as our team of dedicated engineers, tireless trainers, and attentive support staff who constantly improve our product and make certain that it brings the reliability, ease-of-use and security that is rightly demanded.

The last five years have been exciting and we are delighted with what we have developed to support across the UK care system. Our learnings and insight from our customers have given us a robust foundation to continue to build trust in care for five more years – and another five years after that…

The United Kingdom Homecare Association’s event at London’s Institute of Directors, December 3rd, explored the opportunities offered by digital technologies to improve transparency, quality and efficiency.

The PASSsystem, powered by everyLIFE, was one of the few digital solutions showcased at the event, providing a live case study by our valued customers Romola and Adrian from Heritage Healthcare Windsor. The owner / managers gave the audience an honest and authentic view of the process of selecting technologies for their business. They gave a full and very positive appraisal of why they chose PASS, highlighting the ease of implementation and seamless transition they experienced moving from paper to PASS.

Following that, Taffy Gatawa, everyLIFE’s Chief Information and Compliance Officer, participated in a panel discussion alongside other technology providers, focusing in particular on the importance of data protection, security, and governance over sensitive information. “Being able to fully entrust your data to your technology providers must be very high on your list of priorities when choosing a software partner,” said Taffy.

The discussion was opened to the floor and there were useful contributions from delegates around the wider challenges of going digital. The sentiment expressed by many was that, due to limitations in local authority budgets, it is sometimes difficult to justify the cost of implementing software when this raises the overall cost of care. However, it was notable that PASSsystem users in the audience said that, for them, the cost of investment in PASS is justifiable due to the considerable improvements to the quality of care they are now able to deliver, as well as the efficiency savings on staff costs. PASS users also added that they were confident that they will continue to make savings to their bottom line as they progress on their digital journey. The problem, it was felt by some, is not the digital innovations that are clearly driving up the quality of care, but rather the budgets allocated by local authorities combined with the standards that care businesses are expected to achieve.

The UKHCA are working to bring these and many other critical issues to the attention of local authorities, CCGs, and the CQC, and high-profile events such as this allow these important issues to be voiced. We were privileged to be part of that discussion.
