PASS is a multi-tenanted application, hosted in the cloud on clustered Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. Licensing is solely upon a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription basis.
A web portal interface exposes operational functions and the system administration console to supervisory users, whereas, volume end-users (care co-ordinators and care workers) are provided with mobile access through functional native apps. PASS apps are available upon both the Android and iOS operating systems, are optimised for both mobile phone and tablet display and published on appropriate stores for simple download.
The product utilises both clustered servers and clustered databases to provide excellent scaling and load-balancing. Automated failover between geographically distinct data centres delivers high resilience and business continuity reassurance.

PASS data is encrypted both at rest, (upon mobile devices) and in transit (between the mobile devices and the database), with facilities to wipe or whitelist devices upon demand. On the mobile device itself, data is only maintained in cache and so does not persist.
Mobile devices provide for offline operation in areas of poor or no signal, polling for connectivity and updates at defined intervals.
Both PASS database and applications are the subject of penetration testing by Portcullis (now part of Cisco). The products follow the design principals of the National Cyber Security Centre and ISO 27001 and 9001 accreditations are both in place.
PASS has proved completely intuitive to use, even for the least technical care assistant – a revelation.
My Supervisors no longer spend 65% of their time in the office typing up notes taken at assessment meetings – they do it once with the customer, and get it right from the outset. My Supervisors now spend 90% of their time out in the community – better care, improved support for care workers, and more assessments.
We saw the service had made improved use of information through the implementation of PASS for assessing the quality of the service provided, including the consistency of care provided to individuals. PASS has the potential to provide the service with a greater range of information which can be utilised for Quality Assurance. This will include outcomes and tasks completed and missed. Operational statistics will include reviews and staff supervision as well as analysis of nutritional and hydration information entered by staff.
The system reduces the time and cost of setting up care plans for patients going home from hospital by 50%. This has delivered a £20K saving to my bottom line.
